Maths is engrained in our everyday life, from buying shopping and following recipes to problem-solving and map reading. Before children come to tackling the more challenging aspects of maths, the first step in their understanding is learning to count and becoming confident with numbers. It’s important to keep maths fun and our counting games for children make learning to count fun for all the family!

The below games are great for preschool, Reception and Year 1. They make learning early number and counting skills fun!
Catch and Count – 3 years +
Designed to promote number recognition and counting, Catch and Count features friendly sea creatures that children will love! Players spin the spinner, count the number of bubbles and collect the matching cards on their fish board. The winner is the player with the most fish – watch out for the sneaky sharks who could eat them!
Counting Caterpillars – 3-6 years
Practise counting and number sequencing in this colourful caterpillar game! Cards feature dots to count as well as the written number to encourage progressive learning.
Giraffes in Scarves – 4-7 years
Encourage family fun and learning with this colourful counting game for up to six players! Children won’t even realise they are learning as they try to collect the most scarves to build their quirky giraffe character’s neck.
The following games offer more challenging gameplay – children will have to think strategically whilst they tackle more challenging sums and learn about using counting in different contexts!
Bus Stop – 4-8 years
Bus Stop is a great introduction to addition and subtraction. Throw the dice to move around the board, landing on a plus or minus square. Then spin the spinner to see how many characters to take on or off the bus. The winner is the player with the most passengers on their bus when they return back to the bus station!
Money Match Café – 5-8 years
Practise money handling and addition in this funfilled game! Money Match Café encourages imaginative play as players use their own toys and teddies to create a café scene. They use their role playing skills to add up the coins to match the price of a meal and serve it to the correct customer – the player who serves all their meals first wins!
Magic Maths – 5-7 years
Designed with teachers and education professionals for KS1 maths, Magic Maths makes practising addition, subtraction and multiplication fun! Players take turns working out answers to their sums – once they think they know the answer they turn over the card and rub the heat sensitive patches to reveal if their answer is correct! If correct they can add a yucky ingredient to their spell book – the first player to fill their spell book wins!
First Times Tables – 5-8 years
First Times Tables is the perfect introduction to the concept of multiplication and equips parents with the tools to be able to teach their child. The components of the game can be used as a learning resource to help children to understand key concepts such as grouping and sequencing - once children feel confident, a fun pancake-themed game awaits where children can practise their 2, 5 and 10 times tables!
Times Tables Heroes - 6-9 years
